  • Machete's Community Service Event: Operation Walk In My Shoes
    • For over 30 years, St. Monica Church in Santa Monica, CA has been feeding and clothing the homeless as part of their Thanksgiving Dinner& Clothing Boutique. This year we expect to have over 1000 attend, the majority are men. When you're homeless, you spend a lot of time on your feet; a decent pair of shoes is critical.
The goal of Operation: Walk In My Shoes is to make sure every man who comes to the event leaves with a GOOD pair of shoe. Therefore, our intention is to donate 300 pairs of men’s shoes (Sizes 10-15) and delivery them to Saint Monica Church by Monday, November 23rd.
On Tuesday, November 3rd a member of Machete will visit each team to enroll every man in the effort, open it up to questions and ask for support.  Our intention is to get a commitment from each man to donate 3 pairs of shoes.  We request that the men on each team bring the shoes to the following meeting (Tuesday, November 10th)
This isn’t just about shoes, it’s about dignity.  The greatest gift we give someone is time, attention and respect.  We make sure that each pair of shoes we provide is right for the person in need: That it fits properly, is comfortable and will serve their needs.

Andersen & Figueroa both have deep, trusting, fun, energetic, intense, fulfilling, happy marriages, after failing miserably for years. Find out how they did it….

FULL MONTY EVENTS AND CALENDAR
  • The next Division Meeting has been moved to this coming Tuesday, 29 September
    • When: 29 Sep, 7:30 PM
    • Location: Stewart Hall, Temescal Canyon
  • Man Down - But on his way back up
    • One of our men has had some health challenges and for the past six months has asked the men on his team, The Alchemists to maintain confidentiality around it. Some recent events have allowed him to open up and let this serve as a voice for him.

6 months ago Ed ELLMAN found a spot on his foot and sought medical diagnosis for it. The results were that he had metastatic carcinoma. He educated himself on all the options and a surgery was performed. After the surgery tissue samples taken from his toe area during surgery revealed cancer cells still present. Again he educated himself on his options which were few. The only way to remove these cells was to remove his toes. This surgery was performed and he has healed nicely.

Follow up cancer tests showed that it may have metastasized to his kidney. Biopsy confirmed this and he again educated himself on surgical options and decided on a robotic surgery. 2+ weeks ago this surgery was performed to his one and only kidney. His other kidney was removed when he was a teenager. Test results show that he is cancer free and now he is remaining optimistic that his kidney will resume normal function. He has been challenged with blood clots, infection and spasms that have him finding a new 10 on the pain scale.

Ed ELLMAN asked for our confidentiality because he does not want pity from the men. He does not want and will not allow anyone to treat him any differently because of it. He just wants you men to keep him in your thoughts. For any further information Mike Rotenberg (310) 365-8020, [email protected], is acting as a liaison for him. You are asked to not contact ELLMAN directly.

  • Regionals 2015 was held at Mile Square Regional Park on Saturday, September 12th from 8 to 4.  The men of Full Monty enjoyed a great breakfast prior to the event at the Golf Course Coffee Shop.  Most of our core team was in attendance and a great time was had by all.   Relationship amongst ourselves and the other Divisions in the Region—Big Stick, San Diego Men’s Division and Legacy Kings—was rich and powerful.  Each Division was interviewed with care and truth with each getting help, acknowledgement and clarity around their strengths and challenges.  That main challenge for most being—how do we grow our divisions and give our powerful way of being to other men in our lives?  There was also games/competition, great food for lunch and even an actual ice cream truck whereby many men were able to help themselves to a childhood feast of ice cream bars and popsicles complete with sugar coma.

Full Monty showed up as the strong, organized, passionate and transparent men that we are.  It was a day for us to celebrate who we are and how we do set an example for the region—not through our egos—but through our collective commitment.  Don’t miss it next time!

    - Kassan
