What is growth, anyway? Well, from my perspective and the work we do in Full Monty, Growth is about a man striving to be a mature masculine leader for his family, career and community. It is also about actually growing our active membership (in numbers!!!!).
So, let’s start with a man’s growth. We have so many opportunities to grow as men in Full Monty and MDI. After all, the three hours we spend with our men on a Tuesday night is a great start. How fortunate are we that we have a circle of committed and trusted warriors there to support us and challenge us? It doesn’t get any better than that, or does it?
Beyond those circles, we have awesome Full Monty trainings (thank you Mr. Andersen), great community service opportunities (thank you Mr. Alan-Lee), new men’s team creation and team building through the Team Integration Program (thank you Mr. Teichman), great discovery and deeper learning through the Membership Training Program (thank you Mr. Miller) and awesome leadership support through our Team Leader Mentor Program (thank you Mr. Kassan), and finally Core Team leadership opportunities through serving at the highest levels (thank you Mr. Stewart, Division Coordinator).
What I just described is Growth. All of our programs challenge us to live with excellence in our lives. We should be proud. I know that I am.
But Growth has another half. Beyond personal growth as a man, there is growth in numbers. Next week, I will begin my 29th year on a men’s team. Through my life’s ups and downs, achievements and challenges, I have had trusted men who really care about me and my journey. I would have it no other way. My motto for being on a men’s team and in a Men’s Division all of these years sounds like this………..There is no other place where I can meet new men, build relationships and receive the gifts they have to offer me. Growing our Full Monty’s membership is exciting. It gives me the opportunity to gain different insights and greater wisdom. I love growing our membership. It is the life-blood of what we do, adding new members is the only guarantee we have for sustaining the benefits and value of men caring for each other at such a deep level.
So, where do we go from here? I will be asking each men’s team to make a stand for their own Growth initiative. What will that look like? What responsible and measurable action will your men’s team take in order to grow Full Monty? Ponder that, and you will be hearing from me again soon.
With respect and love,
Guida, Full Monty Growth Manger
