bowling balls

This past Sunday, I found myself privileged, privileged to spend my afternoon with many of the men, women and families that make up our community. We were joined together for our first excursion of the year, an afternoon of bowling at PINZ in Studio City. 30 men and women showed up for some raucous fun and relationship and that's just what they got.
We opened the event with an unofficial meet and greet where old friends could reconnect and where new relationships could be built. It also served as a great way to allow all those stragglers to finally show up. That's right, I'm looking at you. You know who you are, ha ha.
We circled up and all indulged in a bit of wishful thinking as we predicted how well we would score during our game. What an exceptional lesson in shooting for our best and learning humility when we don't quite reach those lofty heights. I know this guy shot for the moon.
Off to the races we went. Strikes, spare, gutter balls and everything in between. We ran the gamut with bowlers hitting both ends of the age spectrum, personified by Howard Schwartz and his granddaughter, Willow.
In the end, we could have kept the fun going for several more hours. Perhaps a lesson for next time. I got a lot of juice from all of the men and women who came out to join us. Next time I hope you're one of them.
