team exercises
one minute checkin
Length of exercise:
This exercise takes 5 minutes plus 1 minute for each man on the team.
Results:
This exercise provides an opportunity for men to really practice the art of listening.
Men have to break through the "story" quicker to get value from this exercise
Men are supported by their buddy in this exercise to deliver the "meat" in a minute
Details:
Have each man pick a buddy.
Pick a timekeeper.
Give the men 5 minutes total to check in with the buddy they picked. Let them figure out how to split the time.
After the 5 minutes, have a man step forward, and give him 1 minute to check in on his buddy. He can give the unsolicited version of what he heard. This man will be able to give a quick 1 minute "snapshot" of where the man is at.
After every man has gone, ask the men, "Based on your 5 minute conversation, does your buddy need circle time?" Move into circle time and take care of the men.
