when we strive for our goals...
we encourage others to do the same

Men,
I shared last week about the inspirational aspect of the real estate investment courses I am involved with producing. The speaker that I worked with that weekend had something to say that particularly hit home with me and I found it aligned with my vision for Full Monty and all of MDI for that matter, but had a slightly different focus that I wanted to share.
He suggested that when we allow ourselves to settle for less than what we want for ourselves and are perfectly capable of, that we allow, and in fact encourage, those around us to do the same. We never know who in our lives (on our team, in our office, our neighborhoods, or friends and family) admire us and look to us for inspiration and how much that inspiration allows them to achieve. I find myself continuously influenced by people I admire to improve my interactions with others, whether it is to smile more, greet strangers and look them in the eye, or to dress more nicely which always makes me feel better. The converse is true. When we strive relentlessly for the goals that we want most to achieve, we encourage others around us to do the same and live a more fulfilling life as a result.
I assert that every man on a men’s team has an area of his life (health/fitness, spirituality, relationships, career, fun, activity) that if improved in some way would bring a greater level of satisfaction to his life. While there is much to be said for being grateful and appreciative for all the things we have already, there is no limit to the joy that a man can achieve, and when any of us reaches for more, he allows the rest of us to do the same. I encourage each and every one of you to not only write down and pursue your goals, but to challenge every man on your team to do the same. Even the best of us from time to time needs a push. We often talk about risking our relationships. This is one of those times. Be willing to intrude in each others lives for the sake of helping a man you care about to identify what would make his life more joyful. Identify some resignation he has given in to about it ever happening, and taking some step, small or large, toward achieving it week after week. This, I believe, is the most powerful aspect of being on a men’s team -- not going through life alone – allowing others to contribute.
