Fathering With Intentionality: The Importance of Creating a Family Culture
Have you ever met one of those families that just seem to have it all together? Maybe you knew such a family growing up and loved hanging out over at their house – there was such a great atmosphere there that you kind of felt like you were coming home whenever you stopped over. The parents were happy. The kids were all well-adjusted and generally did the right thing. Everyone in the family seemed to genuinely love, respect, and care about each other. Maybe you joked about them being so good it was creepy – perhaps they were perfect aliens from another planet — but you envied them nonetheless.

team   leader   handbook   is  here!!!

GOING PUBLIC WITH THE TEAM LEADER HANDBOOK

During my time as X.O. of Teams, I took responsibility for creating a handbook for Team Leaders.  For those of you who have not seen it, it is both a compilation of documents created over the years by some of our illustrious leaders as well as some of my own writing about practical tools for leading others.

For the better part of the last year, Team Leader Mentors have given this handbook to men when they are elected Team Leader. We have heard back from many of them that it is a worthwhile orientation to the position. However, as we all know, our goal is not just to help men become strong Team Leaders but to generally support ourselves in improving our leadership skills in all aspects of our lives. For this reason, our D.C., Mr. Chacon has supported our X.O. of Teams, Mr. Brems and me in offering the Team Leader Handbook as a reference on the Bullet that can be accessed by all of us, whether we are Team Leaders or not.

I will continue to serve as the editor of the handbook and will, from time to time and in conjunction with the mentor team and division leadership, make additions and changes as appropriate. Because the Team Leader Handbook is a living document, I welcome your suggestions and comments. I know that Mr. Cisneros is working on compiling some wisdom for deepening the interview process. I hope that when he is done, we can include his findings. If something comes to mind that you feel would really benefit the men by its inclusion, email me at  [email protected].  I will share your input with leadership and we will take next steps if they are warranted.
Stay classy,

DRESSLER

You can find the Team Leader Handbook by clicking on the RESOURCE tab at the top  of the page. Use your "Bullet" password to view the Handbook.

How to survive a plane crash

"10 tips that could save your life"

Picture

Remember the Five Row Rule

A few years ago, Popular Mechanics put out an article that analyzed every commercial plane crash in the U.S. and where survivors were sitting in each accident. The article’s author concluded that in the event of a crash, the safest place to be sitting was in the back of the plane.

According to the folks who dedicate their lives to studying plane crashes, the statistics are inconclusive because every plane crash is different. Sure, many crashes are nose-first, thus making the back of the plane safer, but several are tail-first (as with the recent incident in San Francisco) or wing-first. You just don’t know what kind of crash you’ll be in. Instead of worrying about whether your seat is near the back, focus on finding a seat near an exit. According to researcher Ed Galea, those who survive a plane crash typically only have to move an average of five rows to escape. Beyond five rows the chance of getting out alive decreases.

The best seat to have is in the exit row as you’d be the first one out should you need to exit. If you can’t snag that seat, go for the aisle. Not only do you have easier access to the lavatory during flight, you also have a 64% chance of survival compared to the 58% chance you’d have sitting in a window seat. Also avoid bulkhead rows. Sure, you have more leg room, but the walls don’t “give” as much as seats when you collide with them in a crash.

TEN MOST INFORMATIVE WEATHER FORECASTERS
Let's be honest, the only people who enjoy getting their weather from Al Roker are over-the-hill housewives. The rest of us (or men at least) would much rather prefer to learn about that approaching hurricane from a cute chick in a mini-skirt. They may not have the weather knowledge of a NWS scientist, but they sure as hell know how to rock a tube top in front of a green screen, and isn't that what's really important?
