SW Regionals June 2013
Brems Div.XO of Teams - Sanders Div. Sargent at Arms
This past Saturday, June 22nd, the men of San Diego, Big Stick and Full Monty Men’s Divisions
gathered to do what we do. We support each other to win. I will do my best to be clear, concise
and offer what I personally took away.
The morning portion of the event is from notes taken by the Full Monty XO of Teams Mark
Brems, since myself and three other Poker Canyon men were cleared to arrive late due to the
memorial for Porter's recently passed wife.
The morning kicked-off with a welcome and introduction by Regional Coordinator Jack
Rutledge. He rallied the men around plans for a Regional Rhino in September, and an MDI
International Rhino in Albany, New York some months later.
Then Rutledge introduced three men, two of whom came long distances to deliver a workshop.
Those men were Michael Fowlkes, Howard Speirer, and Rich O'Keefe, and the program
was called Lessons in Leadership. Many topics were covered, including how to interview a team,
what constitutes gossip and how to recognize it, how a leader can avoid getting sucked into a
problem, embracing and contextualizing chaos, and how great leaders inspire others into action.
David Fabricius was then called to inspire men into enrolling for the next Full Spectrum Man
event. His presentation was crisp and powerful. He spoke in a way that connected the men to a
deep masculine spirit that filled the room, and made no apologies that this event was as
challenging as it was rewarding. That concluded the morning part of the event and ends Brems'
notes.
I am fairly lost in what to say regarding the recent Regionals… Men were acknowledged, heard
and had the opportunity to learn from trainings and from simply being present. Of course a meal
fit for kings was presented and IT WAS FIT FOR KINGS! That is when I arrived with our DC,
Chacon, and Division Finance Manager, Gershenson. R.Greene was standing by to bring us into
the space and the Men directly began to rib us for our formal attire!
From there, a quick and impromptu lesson from Fabricius around supporting men through PTSD
was delivered. Allen, from San Diego, did a fine job of instigating that, speaking from his own
experience. I was amazed at how deeply I became connected to do what I can for any man who
may need it.
The men supported the region in the inspection and selection of our newly ordained Regional
Coordinator, Chris Wilkinson! Some depth and revealing was done there. Being that there are no
accidents, the process and personal choices of the second candidate left Wilkinson the only man
standing. This lead to the individual check in with the three divisions. San Diego, with Prestera at the
helm, Full Monty with the mighty Chacon out front, then Big Stick, led by the young Gomez.
The question seemed to come in different manner to all three divisions - "Where is your comfort
level and what keeps you from going BEYOND?" The next common question was - "What do
you want to give to the other divisions?"
The thing for me is that we do deserve to acknowledge ourselves and each other for the work we
have done and continue to do. THEN, we must move forward. We need to ask ourselves - "What
is bigger, better, deeper, HIGHER?"
So, the bottom line is, men had a great time connecting in camaraderie. Men delivered what they
thought other men needed to know to be better men. Youth is where our future lies and hard
work still remains to be done. We have made a good start.
The CHALLENGE that I offer you men:
-To seek a source for what you are missing here.
-To seek a source for what will replace what you bring
-To shamelessly be the most positive mature masculine example you can be for ALL who witness and feel your presence.

*team leader handbook is coming soon
GOING PUBLIC WITH THE TEAM LEADER HANDBOOK
During my time as X.O. of Teams, I took responsibility for creating a handbook for Team Leaders. For those of you who have not seen it, it is both a compilation of documents created over the years by some of our illustrious leaders as well as some of my own writing about practical tools for leading others.
For the better part of the last year, Team Leader Mentors have given this handbook to men when they are elected Team Leader. We have heard back from many of them that it is a worthwhile orientation to the position. However, as we all know, our goal is not just to help men become strong Team Leaders but to generally support ourselves in improving our leadership skills in all aspects of our lives. For this reason, our D.C., Mr. Chacon has supported our X.O. of Teams, Mr. Brems and me in offering the Team Leader Handbook as a reference on the Bullet that can be accessed by all of us, whether we are Team Leaders or not.
I will continue to serve as the editor of the handbook and will, from time to time and in conjunction with the mentor team and division leadership, make additions and changes as appropriate. Because the Team Leader Handbook is a living document, I welcome your suggestions and comments. I know that Mr. Cisneros is working on compiling some wisdom for deepening the interview process. I hope that when he is done, we can include his findings. If something comes to mind that you feel would really benefit the men by its inclusion, email me at [email protected]. I will share your input with leadership and we will take next steps if they are warranted.
You can find the Team Leader Handbook in the next edition of the Bullet in a few days...details will follow...

NEVER CHANGE YOUR MIND JUST TO PLEASE A WOMAN
From The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida, Chapter 6
You should always listen to your woman, and then make your own decision. If you choose to go with your
woman's suggestion even when deep in your heart you feel that another decision is more wise, you are, in effect, saying, "I don't trust my own wisdom." You are weakening yourself by telling yourself this. You
are weakening your woman's trust in you: why should she trust your wisdom if you don't?
When you deny your deep truth to please your woman, everyone will feel your lack of authenticity. They
will sense that your false smile hides an inner division. Your friends, children, and business colleagues
may love you, but they won't trust you, since you don't trust your own core intent. And, more
importantly, your own sense of inauthenticity will burden your capacity to act with clarity. Your
actions won't jibe with your core.
However, if you listen to your woman, taking everything she says into account and making your own best.
decision, then you are acting in accordance with your core. You are saying, in effect, "My deepest wisdom is leading me to this decision. If I am wrong, I will learn from it, and my wisdom will have deepened. I'm willing to be wrong, and grow from it. I trust this process of acting from my deepest wisdom."

men making bullets
Behold our newest member, Nodine, and behold, the 35 bullets that were created by the MTP Mentor team at Fordy's last week.
We were told, "Really!? You need that many bullets? That should last you several years."
We say:
"No. With Poyourow at the helm, this should last 6 months..."
We love makin' 'em. But we love trainin' 'em, more. 6 go around necks next week!
