care  package  drive  for  overseas  troops

No matter who you are, where you are, or what you're fighting for it's good to know that someone appreciates what you're doing. And no matter where you stand on issues of war and violence, it feels good to give a lift to a soldier  who's far away from home and family. For many years, Operation Gratitude has done just that for years by putting together care packages for troops overseas. These packages, consisting of food, entertainment items, letters of appreciation and other comforts cost little to make but are priceless in terms of how far they lift the spirits of a serviceman who's in dangerous territory and missing loved ones.

On Sunday, October 28th Operation Gratitude will hold one of its periodic assembly drives at the National Guard Armory in Northridge. This fast paced, exciting and rewarding event brings together volunteers to put together the contents of these packages and get them shipped out to the troops. It's an activity that is a lot like many of our team building activities and men like us who get things done quickly, efficiently and skillfully are exactly the kind of volunteers they need. This is a great opportunity not only to work together to support other warriors but also to show men in your life the kind of things we do to build each other up and bring it out into the community. For that reason I'd encourage any man to bring others to this (women are also welcome. very young kids, alas, are not at least not as participants)

The event, again, takes place at the National Guard Armory in Northridge. There are two shifts, 9 to 12 and 1 to 4 with lunch available, at a cost, in between (lunch proceeds go to Operation Gratitude).

You can work one or both shifts but they say that the greatest need, so far, will be in the afternoon.  Currently, several Machette men have already committed to the afternoon shift.

Below is a link to the website for more information. I look forward to making this happen.
