colin  stokes:
how  movies  teach  manhood

When Colin Stokes’ 3-year-old son caught a glimpse ofStar Wars, he was instantly obsessed. But what messages did he absorb from the sci-fi classic? Stokes asks for more movies that send positive messages to boys: that cooperation is heroic, and respecting women is as manly as defeating the villain. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

"A Successful Man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him."

Airport Interior. (Slightly nicer than LAX)
Men,

I spent this weekend in Columbia, South Carolina.  This is my 2nd trip with this job to South Carolina, and I have to say this place is growing on me.  It may be a testament that I am traveling too much, but they have some of the nicest airports in the country here.

Yesterday I completed the 10-day long Master Cleanse.  This was part of an ongoing process of mine to restore a healthy lifestyle and return to my ideal body weight.  The Master Cleanse essentially consists of drinking a concoction of water, fresh squeezed lemons, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper along with daily salt water flushes (to clean out the digestive tract) for 10 days.  I have never done anything like this before and took it on for health reasons and also because it was a challenge I was not sure I could hang with.  I lost 7 pounds, feel really good, and think I will do it again in another 6 months or a year.  This process reinforced the notion that when I put my mind to it, I can achieve just about anything! I also found myself more seriously considering all the stuff I mindlessly put into my body that isn't good for me and will be much more mindful of these habits moving forward.

Looking forward to seeing most of you at The Roast this week.

forming  a  new  mens  team

a  letter  from  gerry  seli

Men,

Gerry Seli here from the Brothers & Kings men's team.  The following email outlines the potential formation of a new men's team in Full Monty.

Based on scheduling conflicts resulting from my various work and family commitments, it has been extremely difficult for me to consistently attend my weekly Tuesday night team meetings.  I often miss meetings, and when I do attend, I am usually late mainly due to family responsibilities in the evening.  My inconsistent attendance does not work for me personally and is disruptive to the continuity of Brothers and Kings team meetings.

Given my personal difficulties with attending team meetings on week nights, I am exploring the formation of a new men's team that would meet on Sunday morning, 6:00am to 8:30am, in the West LA area.  This team would be a full-standing men's team in Full Monty with committed members who meet on a weekly basis, not an optional / make-up team meeting for men who are unable to attend their regular team meetings during the week.

If you are in a similar situation, or know men who left Full Monty for personal scheduling conflicts, and would like to explore this idea further, please email me at [email protected] and we will set up a time speak personally.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Respectfully,

Gerry Seli

the  testosterone  project

lesson  #1:
the  declining  virility  of  men  and
the  importance  of  testoterone

Picture
Why You Should Care About Your Testosterone Levels...

Forget what you think you know about testosterone for a minute. Try to scrub your mind of juiced-up bodybuilding bros in the gym or paunchy middle-age men rubbing prescription gel on their soft bellies.

The subject of testosterone has picked up some unfortunate associations recently, but in reality it’s something every man should understand and be concerned about — whether he’s an egghead or a jock, a grandpa or a college student.

How so? A man is more than his hormones, right? Doesn’t being a man mean stuff like taking responsibility, working hard, and having integrity?

Testosterone is what shapes the form of your instrument — your body and mind — and the “sound” it makes. And for a long time now, there’s been a lot more flutes in the orchestra than tubas. The notes being played remain the same, but the music’s gotten a whole lot less brassy.

It is as an advanced leadership and personal mastery training. It is about personal growth, comradery,
making America stronger and our world a better place for all. And, yes it deals with classic
men's issues as well as money, power and sex; but is much more than just that.

You will meet men you will consider yourself lucky to have met in your lifetime and gain immediately

usable skills that will serve you for the rest of your life. Skills less than 1% of all the men on planet earth have.

31  characteristics  of  leadership

andrew  carnegie's  guide  to  great  leadership

Picture

Napolean Hill, author of "Think and Grow Rich"  considered the turning point in his life to have occurred in the year 1908 with his assignment, as part of a series of articles about famous and successful men, to interview the industrialist Andrew Carnegie.  At the time, Carnegie was one of the most powerful men in the world.  Hill discovered that Carnegie believed that the process of success could be outlined in a simple formula that anyone would be able to understand and achieve.

Andrew Carnegie breaks down these 31 qualities that in his words "are capable of development and application by any person of average intelligence."
