a lonely life embraced

Close eyes. Stay silent until requested to speak.
Go back to a time when you were absolutely alone in your past.
No one was there for you.
Abandoned. Left behind.
On your own.
What do you see?
What do you hear?
What are you feeling?
Now consider honestly, and deeply:
What did you need? What did you really need?
Now imagine approaching someone with that need, as you get to a place of
wanting to reach out for help.
Who is there for you? See the face.
How does it feel?
Open eyes.
Look around the circle of men here.
One at a time, enter the center of the circle.
Paint the picture for the rest of the men where you were alone.
Now pick a man in the circle and have him be the person who was there for you,
whoever it was.
Let that person know what you need and what help could look like.
Debrief questions:
1. Where do you still isolate and believe you have to be alone?
2. What would you need to be able to ask for help?
3. What would it - or what does it - mean for you to be able to reach out for
help?
